Families raising children with Down syndrome are constantly faced with unethical attitudes. The lack of ethics in dealing with people with Down syndrome and their families is noticeable in all social spheres, from health care, education and services. The Downside Up Foundation wants to change this situation, so it launched a social project " Improving the ethics of serving people with Down Syndrome” and created a separate information resource dedicated to working on improving the ethics of communication and service.
On the project page, you can follow the latest news in the field of improving the ethics of communication with people with mental disabilities and their families, be aware of all the activities that the foundation conducts to improve the situation, as well as take a direct part and personally influence the future of children with Down syndrome, for example, support the “Declaration of Ethical Principles for Providing Services to People with Mental Disabilities”. Also on the project page there are examples of documents: a Declaration on ethics, Protocols for reporting a diagnosis in the case of the birth of a child with Down syndrome, which can be used in their work by NPO, parents of people with Down syndrome, heads of organizations, everyone who is interested in improving the ethics of communication when interacting with people with Down syndrome and their relatives.
*The project is implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund.
